Commedia is a research project of the Zero-Game Studio of the Interactive Institute , an applied computer-games research studio located on the Swedish island of Gotland.

It is a tool for studying simple gestural language communication and the dynamics of on-line roleplaying. It is the first part of a series of explorations of digital dramatic interaction collectively called “The Purgatory Series”.

The aim of the project is to create a theoretical and software engineering framework for deep and meaningful on-line roleplaying using visual representations of the characters and their environment.
